Description SHINDAND, Afghanistan -- Maj. Gen. Mohammad Darwan, Afghan Air Force Commander, takes questions from media following a ceremony held in honor of Shindand Air Base receiving its first two aircraft: two Mi-17 helicopters Nov. 13. Shindand is scheduled to become the major training post for Afghan pilot training, with 40 aircraft set to be stationed at the base by 2015. (US Navy photo by MC2 Vladimir Potapenko/released).
