[edit]DescriptionShinMaywa US-1A ‘78 - 71 - 9078 - 海上自衛隊’ (9078) (25875063241).jpg |
English: c/n 2008. Full JMSDF military serial 71-9078. JMSDF registered in March 1983 to December 1995. The US-1 was an amphibious development of the PS-1 anti-submarine flying boat and was used specifically in the Search and Rescue role. The type (US-1) first flew in 1974 and 20 were built, not being finally retired until December 2017. During their career they rescued some 827 people and suffered only one fatal incident when aircraft ‘9080’ capsized during landing, resulting in 10 fatalities.
