Summary
[edit]DescriptionShiSanYao.JPG |
13 terminals in mahjong When the winning hand only consists of one each of the terminals of the money suits and one each of the honor suits, then it is called the thirteen terminals or shi san yao. This hand is close to impossible to obtain because there is no meld at all and each of the 13 tiles must be collected without taking any discarded piece from the other three players. In some Hong Kong scoring system, this usually scores 13 points or 213 in winning. If an upper bound is imposed in the winning in each round, this hand would win the maximum allowed. This picture depicts the 13 ways ready hand of shi san yao. This particular hand can be won 13 ways. Any one of the tiles shown here will make the pair that completes the winning hand. In reality, the ready hand would most likely contains the pair already, so there is usually just one way to complete the set. By definition, this hand is also a All category hand (五門齊 wu men qi). Since this hand usually max out most scoring system. People usually don't pay attention to the special property. |
