| Description |
English: Sherborne: St. Johns Almshouses These almshouses were originally termed the Almshouse of St. John the Baptist and St. John the Evangelist (thus the seemingly wrong position of the apostrophe), in a trust deed dated 10 January 1437. Their purpose was to provide for 'Twelve pore feeble and ympotent old men and four old women'.
It still fulfils the function of a residential home for the elderly. |
