Summary

[edit]
Description

Sher Mandal, an ocrogonal double storied building within the Old Fort (Purana Quila) Delhi was stated by Babur, the first Mughal King but was enlaged by Sher Shah Suri (hence the name Sher Mandal). However, it was Humayun son of Babur and father of Akbar the Great who completed it and put it to use. Humayun used it as a personal observatory and library. In fact, this was the second oldest observatory in India.

Unfortunately, Humayn met with an accident in 1556 while rushing down the narrow steps to attend the evening prayers. He died two days later.
