Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Sheep Pen, Brede Level The sheep pen is on the footpath from Float Farm to Icklesham which followed the course of The Damme, a 13th century embankment built across the valley to protect the fields from inundation by seawater. The embankment also provided a causeway across the levels for which tolls were charged in order to pay for its upkeep. It survived until the 1960s when it was ploughed out though traces are still discernible. The trees mark the course of the Hastings-Ashford railway line.
