English: Major Nitin Bali, son of Dr. S.S Bali Ex-Principal of University College of Education Kurukshetra and Dr. (Mrs.) Adarsh Bali, National Awardee was born on 16th March 1917. Nitin was the only dear darling child of his parents. Being born in he family of educationists, he imbibed the qualities of head and heart from his parents. He was the grandson of RZd Fakirchand Bali and Smt Amar Devi Bali and Dohta of Capt. D.L.Dutta O.B.I and Smt Lal Devi Dutta. He joined the National Defence Academy (NDA) in January 1990 as a part of the 83rd Course. He then went on to the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun in January 1993 and here too he was awarded Half Blue in Swimming for his outstanding performance. On completion of the I.M.A course, he was commissioned as 2nd/Lt on 11th December,1993 in the 3rd Punjab Regiment, one of the oldest Infantry Regiments of Indian Army. Major Bali laid down his life in service of the nation on Oct 26, 1998 and was awarded the Sena Medal for Gallantry.
