Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Born as Mohamed Osman Ali Robaa Wadaay.........Sheikh Mohamed Nur Qawi is considered by many Somalis and in the religious community as the leading key figure and the back bone of DACWA SALAFI based on Islamic way of teaching in Somalia. He was born in "Haramaya" in Ethiopia, his ethnicity being an Arab from Yemen. His father passed away when he was only 1 year old, and his mother died when he was 14 years old. He grew up in the religious circles in Ethiopia.

He memorized the Holy Quran when he was 7 years old under the guidance of Sh. Mohamed Hassan Nuqda. After going through many hardships travelling from town to town, east to west to acquire knowledge, he left for Herar where he learned FIQI SHAFICI and the science of hadith as well as the Arabic language.

He then left for Egypt in 1950, going through the difficulties of the adaptation of the new culture and their way of life in a country far from his upbringing. He got acceptance in the prestigious AL-AZHAR University where he mastered religion and Arabic and learned from the likes of Sh. Mohamed Suleiman....Sh. Osman (last name unknown)...and Sh. Mohamed Shaltut .

After successfully graduating, he was sent to Somalia by AL-AZHAR to advance the teaching of ISLAM where many have learned from his immense knowledge of the Islamic religion and those who benefited from Sh. Qawi included scholars such as Sh. Mohamoud Nur, Sh. Hassan Habeeb, Sh. Mohamed Ahmed (Boqol Soon), Sh.Abdulladir Gacmay, and many others of different calibers.

Sheikh Mohamed Nur Qawi is seen as a MUFTI , a title reserved for the few who have reached a higher level of the Islamic teachings and the spreading of the word of Allah with authority. He has plenty of episodes and lectures on Hadith FIQI, TAFSIIR of Quran, and the teaching of the Arabic language that anyone can count.

It is quite unfortunate that Sheikh Qawi has not published any books for the simple fact that he did not get the financial backing of the government or other institutions in Somalia or elsewhere in that matter, nevertheless he has recorded audio tapes that can be accessed in the internet. Where others perhaps were accumulating wealth, Sheikh Qawi has invested all of his time on DACWA and is a proud father of 10 living children, 8 of whom are HAFIDUL QURAN as are some of his grand children. May Allah guard and protect SHEIKH MOHAMED NUR QAWI who has given so much to DACWA and taught and touched so many lives over his illustrious and fruitful life.

Sheikh Mohamed Nur Qawi left Somalia in 1999 and now resides in the UAE and should you need to contact him or seek advice,
