Summary
[edit]A view of downtown San Francisco, California from Twin Peaks.
Several city landmarks are visible in this photo. The tree-lined boulevard aligned with the camera's perspective, visible in the center of the photograph, is Market Street. At the eastern end, the Ferry Building is visible on the waterfront. At the other end is the giant rainbow flag at Castro Street, which marks where the street turns to wind its way into the hills. A few buildings to the right of the flag, the Castro Theatre stands a story or two above its neighbors. Farther down Market Street, a rectangular Safeway sign pokes up, standing just to the right of the old mint, which is a large, imposing building perched on a steep, barren hill. The two tallest buildings on the left are the Transamerica Pyramid and the Bank of America building. The gold-encrusted dome of City Hall is visible in the foreground between them. In the upper right, the western span of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Brideg arcs out to Yerba Buena Island. The hills of the East Bay (mostly Berkeley and Oakland) can be seen through the haze over San Francisco Bay.
