Description |
English: Several studies of late-Victorian torpedo boats at sea Three studies on a single sheet, signed by artist, lower right. The upper part of the drawing appears to be of torpedo boats, with one above as a separate thumbnail sketch: the middle, of torpedo craft running at speed towards a larger vessel flying flags on the left, which might be the Royal Yacht 'Victoria and Albert III' seen in stern view - which would suggest the whole sheet is of some form of exercise; and the lower part shows torpedo boats approaching at speed in bow view. All are first- or second-class torpedo boats of the late Victorian era, probably around 1895-1900. |
