English: Setting out to paddle to Iona On a week in Mull beset by windy conditions, we had relocated from Ulva to Fidden Farm campsite at the tip of the Ross of Mull. Despite the proximity to Fhionnport with its dens of iniquity, we managed to set out into the swell with only slightly muzzy heads, to paddle round the south of Iona, up the exposed west coast, and back across to Mull, meeting a pod of dolphins on the way. This is just at the point of setting out, in waters sheltered by Iona, from a lovely sandy beach made of the quartz crystals from the decay of the granite of which the Ross of Mull is made. |
