Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Sethani Ka Johara, is a reservoir made by the widow of Bhagwan Das Bagla at the time of a terrible famine that hit the region in the year 1899, it was one of the most successful famine-relief projects that served its purpose of retaining rain water from one monsoon to another, located in Churu, Rajasthan. Churu is a part of Shekhawati region - also known as an open art gallery, is a semi-arid historical region and is located in North Rajasthan, this region was ruled by Shekhawat Rajputs and it is named after Rao Shekha. In the 17th to 19th centuries Marwari merchants constructed grand havelis in the Shekhawati region. Steeped with wealth and affluence, the merchants attempted to outdo others by building more grand edifices – homes, temples, cenotaphs and step wells which both inside and outside were richly decorated with mythological paintings and murals.
