Description |
English: Sennen Cove A rapidly executed sketch showing the effects of waves close to the Cornish coast. It adopts an aerial perspective view from which to show the waves. They are reduced to rhythmic rows with thick impasto paint applied to create the crests of the waves. This formalistic approach indicates the darker colour as blocked shapes. Following the end of World War I, Everett went to Helston in Cornwall from 28 January 1919. He then moved on to Porthleven before renting a studio at Sennen. He selected it for its good view of the sea and stayed there until 11 May. The painting is inscribed 'Sennen' verso. |
