English: Lt. Gen. (ret) Keith W Dayton Director of the George C. Marshall Center is giving his welcome remarks at an Ice-Breaker to participants from 39 countries. DOD officials conducted Senior Executive Seminar 13-1 at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies Jan. 15 to 23. The seminar drew 105 participants from 39 countries to discuss what happens to Afghanistan when NATO’s International Security Assistance Force leaves and the Afghan national security force takes over. The seminar included a keynote speech by Dr. Kathleen Hicks, principal deputy secretary of defense for policy; 11 ambassadors in the affected region and other officials from the Department of State, NATO, and Drug Enforcement Agency. Marshall Center officials will report the results of the event to their stakeholders, including the Defense Department and German ministry of defense as well as U.S. Central and European Commands.
