Description

Datado do século XVIII e conhecido também por “Senhor do Espinheiro” ou “Senhor da Areia”, assinala o local onde, segundo a lenda, apareceu a imagem do Bom Jesus de Bouças, mais tarde conhecida por Senhor de Matosinhos. Monumento de fortíssimo impacto visual até inícios do século XX, este zimbório encontrava-se isolado no meio do areal da “Praia do Espinheiro” sendo visível a muitos quilómetros de distância quer do lado da terra quer do lado do mar.

Não obstante o “Senhor do Padrão” ter perdido, na sequência do desenvolvimento dos últimos 100 anos, muito do seu impacto visual, continua a ser uma importante referência para a cidade e para a comunidade piscatória. Com efeito muita da devoção religiosa dos pescadores de Matosinhos e suas famílias materializa-se junto a este monumento, sendo disso exemplo o dia 1 de novembro quando o monumento se vê rodeado por milhares de velas que ardem em memória dos pescadores mortos no mar.
