Description |
Русский: Г. В. Сорока — выдающийся художник, человек трагической судьбы. Был крепостным помещика Н.П. Милюкова, исполнял обязанности живописца и садовника в его усадьбе Островки. В начале 1840-х годов стал учеником А.Г. Венецианова, которого связывали с Милюковым дружеские отношения. Однако все попытки Венецианова добиться освобождения Сороки были безуспешными. Художник остался безвестным деревенским живописцем. В начале 1860-x годов за участие в крестьянских волнениях он был приговорен к телесному наказанию и покончил с собой накануне исполнения приговора.
В русском искусстве ,, Автопортрет" Сороки — один из наиболее искренних, вероятно, художник написал его „для себя". Портрет остался в его семье, где хранился более ста лет. В 1976 году на открытии выставки, посвященной творчеству Сороки, правнуки художника передали его в дар Русскому музею. |
