Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A notice explains how this set was found broken in the Basilica of St. John in Ephesus. It had been standing in the Ceremonial Hall of that complex in Early Byzantine times, but later, like others, had been broken. Many of suc sculptures had a cross carved in their forehead to Christianizse them ex post facto. I remember seeing one elsewhere, so do know: a cross on the forehead indicates it was NOT a Christian object, but had been vandalized later.
