Notes Milne-Shaw Seismograph No 36 Used at Auckland Institute and Museum from 1941-1964 "The Milne-Shaw seismograph no 36 was installed at Auckland War Memorial Museum in April 1941 and replaced in November 1964 by a Eillmore short period vertical. The Milne-Shaw was a N-S component with a period of 10 sec., damping of 2-1 and a magnification of about 150. Before being installed at at Auckland it had been recording at Wellington Dominion Observatory, from 1925 to 1936, and at Kaitaia, from 1937 to 1938. Seismograms are stored in a basement at the GNS Science building in Avalon, Lower Hutt." (email correspondence, Brian Ferris GeoNet, to Roger Young, 2010)
