Description

Restanten van een vernielde Seehund. In het midden zie je de accu's waarmee officieel maximaal 45 minuten onder water kon worden gevaren.


In de laatste jaren van de oorlog werden door de Duitsers in sneltreinvaart verschillende duikboottypes ontwikkeld waaronder de Seehund. Deze door Kurt Ahrend ontworpen duikboot voor een tweekoppige bemanning en bewapend met 2 torpedo's was het succesvolste type. Er werden er 285 gebouwd. Vanuit IJmuiden werden er 154 ingezet, 35 hiervan gingen er verloren.
