Early in spring make a trench about six inches deep in rich, mellow, but not light soil so arranged that no water can stand in it and plant the seed in the bottom, taking care not to cover it more than two inches. "When the plants are about five inches high, fill up the trench and furnish some support for the vines to run upon.
