. They succeed admirably upon all sorts of soil and in any situation that is not too greatly shaded. ACHILLEA (Milfoil). Hardy herbaceous border and alpineplants of easy culture. Dwarf kinds excellent for bedding.The Pearl, pure white double flowers in dense clusters,blooming freely through the summer; fine for cuttingpurposes and cemetery use. Height 2 ft. Season, Juneto October. ANEMONE Japonica (Japanese Windfiower). One of thefinest of hardy plants, stems are erect, 2 to 3 feet high.Flowers rosy purple or carmine, 2 to 3 inches across. Sea-soi, from August until frost. ASTER Hardy (Michaelmas Daisy). Hardy Asters are easyof cultivation in ordinary soils and exposures, and areamong the best plants for the hardy border and for cutflowers. Flowers appear in the Autumn and are brilliantblue, red, purple or white. AQUILEGIA (Columbine). Excellent border plants, bloom-ing in May and June. Their flowers are spurred, andembrace a wide range in color-white, blue, red and yellow. Aprilfeet.
