Summary
[edit]DescriptionSecretory endometrium.jpg |
English: The endometrium has 3 three layers ,a compact layer facing the uterine cavity ,the middle layer showing edema and resulting spongy appearance (showing the corkscrew glands here, typical of secretory phase) ,and a basal layer which is unresponsive to hormonal stimulation .The stratum compactum and spongiosum are together called as stratum funtionale which is hormone responsive.During menstration the stratum functionale is shed and the surviving stratum basalis proliferates during the proliferative phase(of the next cycle after menstration) to bring back the lost layers and the cycle continues. |
