Summary

[edit]
Description U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry points to landmarks he recalls as he, State Department Senior Adviser David Thorne, and Dartmouth College Associate Professor and Vietnam War specialist Edward Miller return to the scene of a 1969 battle for which the Secretary received the Silver Star while serving as a U.S. Navy officer as they toured the Bay Hap River in the Nam Can and Cai Nuoc districts of Vietnam on January 14, 2017, to return to the place where the Secretary started his career in public service, and to learn about war reconciliation efforts and work to curb environmental damage in the broader Mekong River Delta.
