Summary
[edit]DescriptionSeattle - John Collins house - 1900.jpg |
"A window in the residence of Hon. John Collins, Minor Ave." from brochure Seattle and the Orient (1900). There is no overt statement where on Minor Ave. former mayor Collins' residence was, but presumably it would have been First Hill (since the only other possibility is Cascade, a very unlikely place for a grand house). It does not survive: only a handful of the old First Hill mansions remain. According to Polk's Seattle City Directory 1899 (Polk's Seattle Directory Co., 1899), p. 273, the address was 702 Minor Ave., which is, indeed, First Hill (and is now part of Swedish Medical Center). |
