Summary

[edit]
Description
The building as it appeared in the late 1930s, already missing its original cornice.
207-209 2nd Ave S in the Pioneer Square neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. Completed by the end of 1889, it was built by Abraham W. Engle (a lawyer and investor in early Yakima) and H.B. McElroy (a judge from Olympia). The architect was John Nestor, who had also designed a large office building for Engle in Yakima that same year. It served as a hotel soon after completion, commonly known as the Golden State Hotel, but lost its top 2 floors and any trace of its original appearance after the 1949 earthquake.
