Summary

[edit]
Description 206 First Avenue S in the Pioneer Square neighborhood, Seattle, Washington, built 1903, variously known as the Gottstein Building, City Loan Building, or Buttnick City Loan Building. Thompson & Thompson were the architects. See Summary for 206 1st AVE / Parcel ID 5247800385, Seattle Department of Neighborhoods. One thing I'm pretty sure that page gets wrong: they refer to "M. K. Gottstein" as if that was one person. Clearly, that should be M. & K. Gottstein (Meyer & Kassel Gottstein); see, for example, M & K Gottstein in the www.pre-pro.com shotglass database) or Polk's Seattle City Directory 1899 (Polk's Seattle Directory Co., 1899), p. 423 which gives their earlier address 108 Yesler Way. See also picture Image:Seattle - M & K Gottstein Building - 1900.jpg of that 1900 store: not this building, but gives some sense of the company for which this building was built.
