Summary

[edit]
Description
English: 117 Yale Ave N, Seattle, Washington. The building, slated for demolition as of November 2018, has quite a history, which is gone into at some length at Summary for 117 Yale AVE / Parcel ID 6849700075, Seattle Department of Neighborhoods.

Originally (1927) it was the Rodgers Tile Company warehouse and shop. It is one of the rare examples of a Spanish eclectic warehouse/storefront building in Seattle. It was later the home and studio of artists Nicolai Kuvshinoff and Bertha Horne Kuvshinoff. Nicolai Kuvshinoff "appears to have painted" religious murals in the nearby St. Spiridon Orthodox Cathedral, where his father Reverend Vasily Kuvshinoff officiated. As an artist, Nicolai Kuvshinoff had some international renown. Other tenants have included Kelly Floor Coverings, the Hall Scott Motor Car Company, the Matt Talbot Center and the New Hope Center, the 911 Contemporary Arts Center, and finally Feathered Friends (outdoor equipment store).
