Description
English: The Benjamin Franklin Hotel, once located at the Southeast corner of 5th Avenue and Virginia Street. The 1 million dollar, 335 room hotel was built in 1928 by Gardner J. Gwinn, who also owned and operated it. Harry E. Hudson was the architect. It was demolished in 1980 for an expansion of the Washington Plaza / Westin Hotel complex, which was originally built as an expansion to the Franklin.
