Description
‘Seascape with Shipping and Rowing Boat’ by Thomas Luny, about 1834. This oil on canvas by Luny depicts five men in a rowing boat, one leaning over filling a barrel with water/fish. A single decked fifth rate thirty-two gun frigate is seen on the right of the rowing boat. Luny, a Cornish artist, focussed his attention on marine and seascape paintings, and was clearly influenced by his surrounding coastal environment.
