Värskes õhus, elaval tulel, ehk siis grillil või lõkkel küpsetatud sealihašašlõkk on justkui eestlaste dna-sse sisse kodeeritud. Järjest sagedamini valmistatakse seda ka talvel, olenemata külmakraadidest. Ilma šašlõkita ei möödu küll vist mitte ühegi eesti pere jaanipäev (midsummer).
