Title
Seal Matrix: Hare riding dog
Description
English: A well-made seal matrix with a circular base and hexagonal handle tapering to a triple collar with a trifoliate suspension loop above with circular drilled aperture. Device of hare riding a dog, facing left. Hare may be holding a hunting-horn; drawing not very clear. 24 mm high.

The central device is part of the popular "the world upside down" group. The legend was originally read as ALAS BONVS but is more likely to be one of the variants on an ALAS BOWLES motto, which is currently mysterious in meaning.
