Description
English: Detail from the Port Authority Building at 111 Eighth Avenue. The seagull represents the Port of New York, and the fasces is the traditional emblem of authority--and the symbol and namesake of fascism, which had been going strong in Italy for 10 years when this building went up in 1932.
