| Description |
English: Sea wall construction, Hadleigh Marshes. In the eighties, Anglian Water began a major raising of the sea wall between Leigh-on-Sea and Benfleet. They dug a new borrow-dyke on the landward side, connecting it to the old one for several months before filling the old one with rubbish and capping it to form a new, elevated sea wall. This photo shows the top of the new sea wall about half way along. The new borrow-dyke is just visible to the right. 1028997 shows the well-established sea wall near here in 2008 |
