Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A sculpture of young Pole Mieczysław Kamieński in a reclining posture with a sad face expression on top of a family grave at Montmartre Cemetery with boots, trousers, an open blouse torn on the torso and an overcoat. Next to him there is a wide belt and arms. This clearly shows he was a soldier; the reclining posture and open blouse suggest he is shown at the precise moment when he received the bullet. Kamieński, young Polish volunteer who died in 1859 in the battle of Magenta. The statue was made in 1861 by the sculptor Jules Franceschi (1825-1893), (Eck and Durand casters).
This building is indexed in the base Mérimée, a database of architectural heritage maintained by the French Ministry of Culture, under the reference PA75180002 .
