English: Scout Moor Wind Farm from M62. Looking North from junction 19 of the M62 you can see quite clearly seven miles away the first five wind turbines on top of Scout Moor.
Another 21 towers were due to be erected on the moors over the months of February and March 2008. The tower in the centre of the picture is 633889 Construction of the wind turbines began back in November 2007 at Turbine No 16. By June 2008 engineers had constructed 26 wind turbine towers and installed 78 turbine blades 450 metres above sea level on Scout Moor amid adverse weather conditions of thick fog,gale force winds,torrential rain,snow and ice during the winter months of 2008. |
