SCOUT CABIN, HEBRON, IND. Date: 1953 Source Type: Postcard Publisher, Printer, Photographer: Unknown Postmark: September 29, 1953, Chicago, Illinois Collection: Steven R. Shook Remark: The Scout Cabin in Hebron, Porter County, Indiana, was constructed in August 1948 on property donated for park use by the Sigler family. A loan from Louis Alyea from the Donald Alyea Fund was used to finance construction of the structure and this load was later repaid by the community's Commercial Club. Chuck Fry, Russell Hoagland, Craig Stevens, and Harry Stockman constructed most of the cabin, starting with the erection of the fire place first. In 1956, an 16' x 30' addition was completed on the north end of the cabin. A fire in May 1977 caused damage to the kitchen area located in the northwest corner of the cabin and Les Osburn Construction Company, Wiltfong Builders, Country Side Builders, and several community members repaired this damage.
