Description
English: This is a dedication window which is in the cloisters of Chester Cathedral, south walk, no.S7. Panels l to r, inscribed:
  • In loving memory of Samuel Cooper SCOTT, Vicar of St John the Baptist Church 1875 - 1915 and Honorary Canon of Chester Cathedral 1896 - 1923 who died August 12th 1923. This window is placed here by his children
  • Oldfeld Kelsall PRESCOT, Priest 1828-1914 of Bradshaw Hall, Cheadle and of his wife Helen WITHINGTON of Parkfield, Didsbury
  • Ernest Campbell LOWNDES, Vicar of St Oswalds church, Minor Canon of Chester Cathedral who passed to his rest December 8th, 1908. This window is placed here by his sister, Flora
  • William Congreve of Congreve and Burton, Esqr and of Fanny Emma, daughter of Lee Porsher TOWNSHEND of Wincham, Esqr. His wife and their children dedicated this window. With arms of Congreve (Sable, a chevron between three battle-axes argent) impaling Townshend (Azure, a chevron ermine between three escallops argent), with motto: Non moritur cuius fama vivit (He does not die, whose good name lives on). (William Congreve of Congreve Hall in the parish of Penkridge in Staffordshire, and of Burton Hall in Cheshire, see Congreve baronets (extinct 1941))
