[edit]DescriptionSchwimmeisen2.jpg |
English: Schwimmeisen on a body of stagnant water in the Driftwood Beach State Recreation Site in the state of Oregon, United States. In mineralogy and hydrology, the term Schwimmeisen describes thin films of oxidizing floating iron on the surface of shallow and, in most cases, only temporary bodies of stagnant water. (The technical terminology in German is also used in English-speaking publications.)
