[edit]DescriptionSchwellenwerk Kirchseeon Alte Kyanisierhalle.jpg |
English: Old tar oil sleeper impregnation plant from 1869 to 1910 at the Kirchseeon sleeper works. In the background you can see the fence bordering the Tauben- and Dachsbergwald to the south and south-west, which still exists in sections today. Topographical map (table sheet/position sheet 716) 1:25,000, year of publication 1900, showing the forest railway track and the site of the sleeper works in Kirchseeon on BayernAtlas.de: https://v.bayern.de/Sd39R , the year of publication of the position sheet 717 to the right (east) is 1909. The wooden sleepers, cut and impregnated ready for dispatch, were packed into bundles and pushed on trolleys to an intermediate station (centre of picture). Here 2-3 fully loaded lorries could obviously be picked up by a wide, rail-guided loading apparatus. The lorry flat wagons could thus be moved sideways or parallel to their ‘bigger brothers’, the flat wagons of the standard-gauge railway. Finally, the large, heavy sleeper bundles had to be pulled or pushed onto the (standard-gauge) flat freight wagons/stanchion wagons. Around 1900, heavy manual labour was still part of everyday working life in countless industries, and for a long time until well after the end of the Second World War, see workers pausing for a moment to look at the photographer.
