| Description | This is the Schwartz's Point Jazz & Acoustic Club, located across the street from the OTR Adopt building I explored with classmates. The Schwartz's Point building is a 19th Century flatiron building at the corner of Vine Street and West McMicken Street. Though originally built in the late 19th Century, the brick building was heavily renovated in the 1920s, which brought it to its current appearance, with its iconic clock on the arched parapet, red tile roof, stone facade, and the large bay window at the street corner being added. It has long been a local cultural institution and has been considered to be the best jazz club in the city for decades, but has recently fallen onto hard times with the former owner and manager no longer being able to run it, and it has shut its doors. Hopefully, someone else is able to take his place and keep the legacy going. |
