Summary
[edit]DescriptionSchule am meer juist bootshaus am watt.jpg |
English: The boathouse of Schule am Meer (School by the Sea) which was erected in 1927. It was located south of the boarding-school's compound and close to Wadden Sea. The pupils are pulling a dinghy on a four-wheeled trolley to the Sea. The small girl with long pigtails at the bow of the boat is Renate Reiner (1917–2003), the firstborn of four daughters of the teacher couple Dr. Paul Reiner (1886–1932) und Anna Sara Reiner (1891–1972), nee Hochschild. Directly behind Renate appears Heinz-Günther Knolle (1912–1999) from Löhne in the Province Westphalia wearing a light polo-neck/turtleneck sweater. The boy on the right whose head is in front of the lifebuoy is Karl Siegfried Ludwig, called Friedel. A few yars later he was the one who developped many or even most of the photographies about the boarding school his comrades had created. The two male pupils in front pulling the trolley are Hubert H. Kelter (left) und Walter Georg Kühne (right). Three of the older pupils do wear "Schullandheimmützen", caps or hats which were characterized as those kinds worn by students and teachers of boarding schools located in the countryside and related to German Youth Movement. In fact they are berets, also worn by French pupils of the time. The photography can be dated quite exactly due to the documented erection of the boathouse and the estimated age of Renate Reiner.
Hochschild. |
