Der Grundstein des deutsch-französischen Abiturs und der dahinführenden Gymnasien liegt im von Charles De Gaulle und Konrad Adenauer vereinbarten Elysée-Vertrag vom 22 Januar 1963, der geschlossen wurde, um «das Verhältnis der beiden Völker zueinander von Grund aus» neu zu gestalten, wobei «insbesondere der Jugend eine entscheidende Rolle bei der Festigung der deutsch-französischen Freundschaft zukommt». Der Vertrag bekundet: «Die beiden Regierungen erkennen die wesentliche Bedeutung an, die der Kenntnis der Sprache des anderen in jedem der beiden Länder für die deutsch-französische Zusammenarbeit zukommt. (...) Der deutschen und französischen Jugend sollen alle Möglichkeiten geboten werden, um die Bande, die zwischen ihnen bestehen, enger zu gestalten und ihr Verständnis füreinander zu vertiefen.» Im Jahr 1972 wurde diese zukunftsweisende Idee mit der Gründung der drei deutsch-französischen Gymnasien und damit auch des deutsch-französischen Abiturs verwirklicht.Français : L'acte fondateur des Lycées Franco-Allemands se trouve dans le Traité de l'Elysée du 22 janvier 1963 voulu par Charles De Gaulle et Konrad Adenauer pour «transformer durablement les relations entre les deux peuples» en appelant la jeunesse à «jouer un rôle déterminant dans la consolidation de l'amitié» entre eux.
Le Traité stipule que «Les deux gouvernements reconnaissent l'importance essentielle que revêt pour la coopération franco-allemande la connaissance dans chacun des deux pays de la langue de l'autre. (…) Toutes les possibilités seront offertes aux jeunes des deux pays pour resserrer les liens qui les unissent et pour renforcer leur coopération mutuelle.» C'est en 1972 que ce projet audacieux et visionnaire se concrétisa par la création des Lycées Franco-Allemands et du baccalauréat Franco-Allemand. |
