Description
Nederlands: Beschrijving D. Sapma in zyn Vrouws-gewaad, de boeyen ontkomen zynde; passeert het Tuchthuis, waar uit hy eenigen tyd daarna Grevius en Prince, hielp ontkomen

De buitenpoort van het Tucht- of Rasphuis op de Heiligeweg. Tijdens de religieuze conflicten t.t.v. het 12-jarig Bestand (1609-1621) moesten vele Remonstrantse predikanten vluchten. Meerderen van hen werden opgepakt; zo ook de predikanten Dominicus Sapma uit Hoorn, Johannes Grevius uit Heusden en Samuel Prince uit Baardwijk, die in het Amsterdamse Rasphuis werden opgesloten. Sapma wist als eerste te ontsnappen en hielp naderhand de beiden anderen met hun vlucht.Datering voorstelling: 1621. Techniek: ets.
