Science City, a unit of the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India – in collaboration with the Photographic Association of Dum Dum (PAD), Kolkata, is thrilled to announce a special week-long photographic exhibition in honor of International Tiger Day. This captivating event will open on July 29, 2024, and run through August 4, 2024, with the goal of raising awareness about the urgent need for tiger conservation.
Exhibition Title: 'Facing Tiger - Through the Lens'

Inauguration: July 29, 2024, at 11:00 AM by Dr. Paulami Maiti

The exhibition will showcase 47 magnificent photographs that capture the inherent majestic beauty and critical vulnerability of Indian tigers. This stunning collection, captured by 15 talented photographers from Bihar and West Bengal, offers a unique and compelling glimpse into the lives of these iconic big cats. Supplementing these photographs are 2 AI-generated experimental images that provide a modern and innovative take on the fusion between technology and art for wildlife conservation.
“Tigers are apex predators and, being at the top of the food chain, they play a pivotal role in maintaining the stability and balance of the ecosystem. Additionally, tiger reserves in India are among the biggest carbon-traps in the world and play a crucial role in boosting the economy through tourism. Hence, to spread this awareness among the masses, an event has been organized at Science City, Kolkata, incorporating a number of hand-picked photographs of tigers, provided by the Photographic Association of Dum Dum, Kolkata, in the august presence of delegates actively involved in capturing the cat through the lens,” said Shri Arnab Chatterjee, Deputy Director of Science City, Kolkata.
