Description
English:
Former Ráday Mansion/Estate. It was built with middle avant corps in the Baroque style from 1722 to 1730 designed by the Austrian origin stonemason, stone carver (?) András Mayerhoffer (and probably his son János Mayerhoffer too) ordered by Pál Ráday and his son Gedeon Ráday. There is monument plaque on the street side support wall of the garden with name of JánosMayerhoffer - Gedeon Ráday by Eszter Balás (around 2000 works, bronze bust on marble base) can be see in the vestibule. Library room ceiling 'Pallas Athene' painted by Mátyás Scherwitz. The walls of the ornamented hall or reception hall covered by monochrome frescoes, it shows scenes of Metamorphoses by Ovid painted by Mátyás Scherwitz in 1766, there are the lines of verse under the paintings were written by Gideon Ráday himself. The queen's salon furniture does not belong to the original furnishings of the castle, but they are very beautiful. On the groundfloor a kitchen exhibition can be see. The former stable of the mansion is now exhibition venue. There was a Baroque garden that remodelled to Eglish lanscape garaden in the 19th century. Current form created in the 1960s for healing of the patients of the hospital in the mansion. The mansion was a Hungarian Railways Hospital till 1998 - 1 Kálvin Square, Maglódi Road corner, City centre, Pécel, Pest County, Hungary.
