Deutsch: Verschiedene Stadien bei der Entwicklung des Schiffslogs. Oben: Handlog. Die dreieckige Platte wurde ins Wasser geworfen und sank dank Bleibeschwerung unter Wasser. Während die Zeit mit einer Sanduhr gestoppt wurde, rollte die Leine ab und anschliessend zählte man anhand von Knoten in der Leine die zurückgelegte Strecke. Mitte: Patentlog mit Zähler im Propeller. Der Propeller wurde für eine gewisse Zeit nachgeschleppt und zählt die Umdrehungen. Unten: Patentlog mit Anzeigeinstrument (in Kiste). Bei diesem Modell wurde die Zahl der Umdrehungen direkt an einem Instrument auf dem Schiff angezeigt. Dadurch konnte die Geschwindigkeit permanent abgelesen werden. |
