This rock is part of a highly sheared Ordovician-aged serpentinite belt. The rocks at this site include the schist seen above, chlorite schist, amphibolite, and quartz veins. The black sprays in the schist are composed of hornblende amphibole. Locality: roadcut on the northern side of Route 9, west of the town of Marlboro, southern Vermont, USA |
