Description

‘Scheringa Museum For Realisme’ (voorheen ‘Frisia Museum’). In de voormalige Lidwina huishoudschool aan de Spanbroekerweg 162 te Spanbroek. Initiatief voor dit museum is genomen door het echtpaar Scheringa-de Vries. Het is geopend in februari 1997. Dit jaar nog wordt begonnen met de bouw van een nieuw en veel groter museum in het nabijgelegen Opmeer. Opening eind 2009.

Edit: augustus 2011 Op 17 november 2009 werd DS Art failliet verklaard, wat het einde van het museum betekende en het ontslag voor de zestien personeelsleden. In februari 2010 werd bekendgemaakt dat het nieuwe onderkomen in Opmeer niet verder zou worden afgebouwd wegens gebrek aan financiële steun voor voltooiing, hypotheek en exploitatie. De museumleiding zoekt momenteel naar een andere goedkopere locatie om het museum voort te kunnen zetten.
