På Samfundet S:t Eriks kulturhusskylt om Schantzska huset, Stortorget 18-20:

"Detta huset uppfördes år 1650 i tysk-nederländsk renässansstil av kungliga sekreteraren Johan Eberhard Schantz. Portalen är utförd av stenhuggarmästaren Johan Wendelstam. Huset till höger har medeltida murverk i tre våningar. Huset fick sitt nuvarande utseende vid 1700-talets början. Båda husen bevarar fast inredning från 1600- och 1700-talen. Ett gemensamt trapphus tillkom 1905. Fastigheten renoverades 1992."
