Im Buch wird das Bild von folgendem Text von Hans Sachs begleitet:
- Ich brauch mancherley Narren weiß
- Darmit ich verdien Tranck und Speiß
- Doch weiß ich durch ein zaun mein Mann
- Mit meim fatzwerck zu greiffen an.
- Da ich mit mein närrischen Sachn
- Die Herrschafft kan fein frölich machn
- Mit heuchlerey die Leut ich blendt
- Drumm man mich ein Schacksnarren nennt.
